Commercial General Liability Insurance

Commercial General Liability Insurance protects and defends a business when claimants allege they have suffered an injury caused by the business. The injury could span from a slip and fall on the premises to damage caused by a product or completed operation. Most General Liability policies also include personal and advertising injury as well as medical payments.

A General Liability policy can be purchased as a standalone policy or bundled with other coverage in a commercial package policy or businessowners package policy.

Some companies permit other types of liability exposures to be included with a General Liability policy including liquor liability, pollution liability, employment practices liability, professional liability and directors and officers liability.

Each type of business has special needs and exposures and a business owner will want to make sure that you are dealing with an agent who understands your type of business. Our agency writes a lot of contractors and we have published an article, “Insurance Requirements for Contractor Start-Ups” which you can print off and study. The article identifies and explains many different types of insurance that a new business will need.

Many insurance companies will not write a contractor until they have been in business for at least three years, but our agency works with a lot of start-up companies and we can provide a free price quote for most businesses that will enable the owner to determine if they can afford the insurance required for the job that they are bidding.
